Not yet. swl_felix is working on creating a specification of the protocol - so maybe somewhere next week I can try to write a driver ;-)

Hi Denis,
indeed I am working on the protocol specifications right now and hope that we will have the ability to implement Uniden DMA Scanners that are controlled via the COM-Port in the month of August.
I am currently collecting the protocol data and will be pleased to share that with Ivo for use with this great community.

Hello there, I am also wanting then as well. If you are wanting to try out on my receiver then you are more than welcome, It is all connected and ready to go. Used as a Audio only node at the moment. Receiver is ATC Northwest UK

Hi PaulID and W1WV,
the current status of the interfacing with the Uniden Scanner (I use an SC230) can be seen on my SkyListener Node, below of the general information about the location and the receiver you will find an area with pass predictions and below there an interface that I have created by the usage of PHP. I am currently having plans to create a test program that will allow you to provide me data concerning the communication between the RX and the Computer, if your receivers are using the same set of commands as the one I have here (Uniden DMA standard) and the test reflects a positive result I will be more than pleased to provide Ivo the data required to send to the Uniden Control server application that I have written.

Alternatively I could offer you to host the interface on a local server for now and you just run the server application, this will allow us to test distance controlling and will be available with only a low amount of work.

I will prepare such later today.

The original poster was asking about a BC780 which is NOT a DMA scanner - but it's interesting to hear that the newer DMA scanners are being worked on.

As an aside, RadioReference has over 2000 scanners online right now.

Depends on the software being used to interface them with the RR audio service. Software such as ProScan has this ability - others don't. How many scanners are set up with this software, I have no idea.

ProScan can address the 780, and is well supported both on Bob's dedicated forums on his website and on RadioReference. The URL is:

This software works with numerous scanners, not just the 780- it even works with the Uniden DMA scanners

By the way, the object oriented scanners (PSR-500, 600, PRO-106 and 197) are not left out - they have their own software, called Win500, and you can read about it here...
