BEDFORD 30 miles from north London, node located 14 floors high on the roof, sigma euro-comm v-1300 aerial, 20-meter long wire

12/06/2022
for some reason the receiver has gone offline, i do not know why, the pc and receiver appear to be working fine so I'm just waiting for some support
cheers

11/08/2021
just over a year after fitting the new receiver, I've upgraded the aerial to a sigma euro-comm v-1300 Base Station Antenna, and also moved the long wire and supported the middle, everything seems to have greatly improved

20/07/2020
changed the icom pcr1000 for a new radio, the other one had issues the aerial setup is still the same, as the receiver was the issue!
enjoy

23/05/2020
going to change the sigma scan king for a sigma euro-comm v-1300
to see if it improves reception
its currently on test at another location
I will update when it has been installed on this receiver

10/05/2020
the receiver is on test, new pc, new power supply, and now on a com cable,

5/6/2019
back on after a number of months, I accidentally shut down the laptop and have only just had time to get on the roof to restart!

04/01/19 receiver has been off for 6 weeks, the pc has been rebuilt, and I've been on the roof to check all is well,
hopefully, there should be no more issues, site location is 35 miles from north London

15/10/18
It's been off for 5 days due to a fire we had on the network path !!

29.8.18
found some viruses and malware on the PC, plus unwanted startups cleaned it and hopefully will stop the random disconnects and crashes, enjoy !!

29.4.18
the issue seems to be bad sectors on the hard drive, I ran a sector scan and repair, seems to be ok now, fingers crossed !!!

27.4.18
been up and restarted the receiver it has been off for some time due to the laptop,
It's been freezing up for some reason, I still don't know what the issue is with it, the long wire had also blown down, so I reinstalled it, a few months back there were people causing issues, another reason why I left it off!

18.12.17
was off for a few hours, the fuse blew in the plug! went on the roof and fixed it

8.11.17
seen 2 people saying (no point in listening to free music channels or FM radio full stop ) if somebody asks to tune and permission is given let them tune to what they want, believe it or not, some peoples hobby is FM radio Dxing finding out what coverage a station has, just like some peoples hobby is aircraft, different strokes for different folks this is not to say you tune and listen to music for hours on end this node was put up to monitor my FM radio station on 106.5fm, so if it is on that when you tune in and in2beats is logged in, the output is being monitored and you MAY NOT TUNE, others may use it to monitor their output /coverage. hope this clarify s my point

8.11.17
had intermittent power cuts from 4.30 am till 7 pm on the location where the internet connection is, 1500 houses were affected!
all sorted now though

21.10.2017
Regular users of this node have discovered that some frequencies are offset by +5hz. These are the frequencies they have found so far you need to offset to get good reception of planes and controllers.
Some frequencies are offset by 5kHz for technical reasons. Try tuning 5kHz on either side of the published frequency
Luton App:-129.550 to 129.555
Luton Twr:-132.550 to 132.555
Essex Radar:-120.625 to 120.630
Stanstead Director:-136.200 to 136.205
We will add to this list if we discover any more offset frequencies in the future.

18.10.17
I've been told by some users of the node that ( Luton approach that's on 129.550) is best picked up on 129.555

30/9/17
turned off the updates, seems that at 12 o'clock on a Friday night the radio goes offline due to windows updates, hopefully this has sorted it!

23/9/17
radio back up and running after being damaged by lightning
was sent off for repair to icom who have serviced and fixed the problem
£100 later >>>

23.7.17
The computer (laptop ) was not charging so I changed it to a new one, I then got back home tried it, and realized that the signal was low, it picks up radio 1 ok and my local FM transmitter, I went back up there this morning to figure it out, there seems to be a problem with the receiver its-self, it may have been affected by the recent lightning we had, I've removed it and bought it home to see if I can resolve it if I cant its either I've got to buy a new one or ill change it for an SDR dongle I have

BEEN NOTICING PEOPLE ARGUING AND BITCHING OVER THE RULES IN THE LOG FILES
IF PEOPLE CAN'T RESPECT EACH OTHER, SHARE THE USE OF MY RECEIVER AS I DO THEN YOU WILL BE BAND, ANY INSULTS, HOGGING, RUDENESS, ETC GENERAL 5-YEAR-OLD BEHAVIOUR YOU WILL BE BAND.

THE RECEIVER KEEPS RANDOMLY GOING OFFLINE I DON'T KNOW WHY THE PC IS RUNNING FINE, THE INTERNET IS FINE, I REBOOT WHEN I CAN.

THE SIGNAL METER DOES NOT SHOW THE CORRECT SIGNAL STRENGTH, something to do with the EPROM they say!

apparently, it's a good receiver for listening to military aircraft crossing the country

27/5/17 I've just installed a duplexer and a long wire
The long wire is 10 meters, each side dipole!
It is at 45 degrees to the sky, and is sideways to Europe ie each end is pointing east-west,
it is on the 14 floors of a tower block !! On the roof,
and using rg213 coax

the duplexer frequency is 1.6mhz to 56mhz
then 76mhz to 470mhz its a DIAMOND (MX-62M)
the aerial used for 76-470MHZ is a sigma scan king SE1500,its frequency coverage is 500 kHz-1500 Mhz

THE BAND GUIDE IS BEING POPULATED WITH THINGS YOU CAN HEAR ON THIS NODE
YOU HAVE TO DOUBLE CLICK IT TO MAKE IT WORK FOR SOME REASON

THANKS FOR ALL THE POSITIVE FEEDBACK FROM THE USERS OF THIS NODE
I'M TRYING TO MAKE A BAND GUIDE FOR THIS NODE

(nov 2016)
Just upgraded this receiver to an icom PCR-1000,this receiver is on the top of a 14-floor tower block in the middle of Bedford in the UK,it is linked to the internet via some 5,8ghz microwave links .it is picking up Heathrow ground 45 miles away so it's working very well, much better than the SDR dongle
