Hi all I am considering sharing an AR8000
http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/AR8000 on GT but need a PC interface.
Would this one be ok

It appears to be one way only.
Also found this pinout, scroll down to page 11

Any other suggestions for a home brew interface please?

The interface is simple enough - MAX232 level convertor of which there are many circuits online. Maxim will supply the chip free for development work and only a couple of other common components needed (dependent on which 232 chip you actually use)
The difficult part with the AR8000 is changing from the original ribbon connector to something more convenient. Minor surgery of your radio will be required.
Other possible sources of info are Javiation in the UK. Jonathan marketed a multi-reciever interface box which contained the level converter and sockets/plug leads to connect various radios (AR8000, AR8200, Alinco DJX10 etc). The interface has been out of production for quite some time.
