Here's a link to the AFN frequencies around the world:

http://www.docksideradio.com/AFRTS.htm

You can listen AFN on Guam via my Hong Kong node: 13362 daytime, 5765 nighttime. Actually, they are on 13362 from about 2000UTC to 0800UTC, then 5765 after that. Sometimes there is a lot of interference from OTR (over-the-horizon radar from China on 5765). Be sure to select USB mode.

Enjoy,

Hi HD0139, welcome to Global Tuners.

Don't know if you are in the Forces, if you are, as you may know you can get the full program(and not only what is available on AM/FM) via Scientific Atlanta etc receivers. Cheap, "previously owned" sets, can be found on eBay, then it's a matter of a phone call, they will give you the decoding key, after showing you (or someone in your household) are serving.

If you are a civilian, the AM/FM frequencies, are at the official AFN site for Europe:

http://www.afneurope.net/Radio/RadioFrequencies/tabid/89/Default.aspx

I live in England and I can still reliably receive AFN radio on 1107 kHz Medium Waves, so it should be very easy for you to receive AFN 24/7 locally, in Germany both on FM and AM.

Just see what frequencies to use in what cities, in what European country at Official Website of the American Forces Network Europe above.

Also, it is very easy for Global Tuners to provide an AFN stream e.g. the one where one can still find ZRock. It plays a bit more unconventional stuff, more adult orientated than the AM/FM program, also news coming straight from the US, (e.g. ABC) rather than local German studios, etc.

Not all frequencies in various Internet sites may be active all the time, some AFN TX and/or its antenna sites don't get their contracts renewed on the anticipated dates, as regular AFN listeners know by simply listening to the station news.

However the link above is the Official AFN site, AFN radio recommends it as a matter of fact, and it can guide you to lots of AFN related info, including for example its southern daily schedule at:

http://bavaria.afneurope.net/Schedules/AFNTheEagle/tabid/139/Default.aspx

Out of curiosity, I tried during daytime the German Global Tuners radios. Unfortunately, we don't have as a site many nodes in most German AFN locations at the time of writing.

Odenwald-node, which you already used last night, was fine during daytime today, with both 873 kHz and 98.7 MHz the frequencies for the Frankfurt area as indeed accurately stated in http://www.afneurope.net.

During the night, MW propagation will help you find AFN on even more frequencies, on different Global Tuners radios if Odenwald is QRL (busy).

A useful tool is to use Global Tuners' map, to find where exactly our radios are:

http://www.globaltuners.com/receiver/list_map.php?map=1

Together with
http://www.afneurope.net/Radio/RadioFrequencies/tabid/89/Default.aspx

you know, when you are near Munich, Frankfurt etc, what frequencies to use in your car, or when you are using some Global Tuners radio.

Let us know if you need anything more?

HDO139, the AFN station(s) from Frankfurt area you asked for is AFN Power Network or the regional outlet now called AFN Hessen-The Eagle.

AFN Power Network can be found on MW 873 kHz, via the Oberursel transmitter mast
In the Odenwald RX you can tune to FM 98.7 for AFN Hessen-The Eagle via Großer Feldberg (Taunus).

The regional outlet on FM 98.7 used to be called AFN Z-FM or AFN Frankfurt (they used to play very good rock music).

You can get a full list of all AFN frequencies from FMLIST & MWLIST, just click on the left sidebar external links.

The listings provided in AFN websites are not accurate and often outdated, the data often needs to be manually updated from different sources.

Another possibility to listen to AFN apart from GlobalTuners is via KeyHole TV.

http://www.v2p.jp/video/english/

KeyHole TV carries AFN Tokyo 810.

On GlobalTuners the Dokkum DX radio receives MW 873 kHz quite well during the night and is an alternative when Odenwald is busy.

By the way: The possibility of listing to AFN Radio on GlobalTuners made me join this great site.

I hope that there will be more radios from the coverage area of AFN Europe on GlobalTuners in the future.
